Katie Montgomery Rentz is a Certified Forest Therapy Guide with the
Association of Nature and Forest Therapy.

In addition, she is Wilderness First Aid Certified through NOLS.

She grew up roaming the woods, rivers, and farmlands in rural Ohio, where she fell deeply in love with the natural world. She became enchanted with the American West and moved to California in 2007. She spends her free time camping, exploring, and road-tripping across the country and finds that solo time outside is an incredibly spiritual experience for her. Here, is where she connects most with the Divine and where she feels most like herself.

Her passion for the outdoors and desire to help others find healing and connection in nature led her to found Explore Sanctuary.

Katie loves the following in no particular order:

The sound of frogs at night
A good swimming hole
Dancing with her eyes closed
The constellation, Orion
Fishing without having to catch a fish
Studying maps
Finding dirt roads to explore
Picking wild berries and eating them while they’re warm from the sun
Floating down a river
The smell of sagebrush after a rain
The stillness of a snowfall at night
Sleeping beside a fire
Walking barefoot
Lying in the sun
Laughing until she cries
