the purpose

Modern society keeps us feeling isolated, lonely, and detached, which can lead to illness over a prolonged period of time. People need a community that feels deep, intentional, and consistent. There’s something sacred about engaging in community that brings health and wellness to each and every being. But community doesn’t just exist between people — we also need relationship with the land and with the natural world to maintain a healthy connection. Because of this intrinsic need, Explore Sanctuary will be offering a six-week program rooted in nature that promotes deep, intentional, and consistent community.

the details

This series is for anyone looking to build and deepen their connection through community. Each week, we’ll focus on a specific theme that will encourage participants to go deeper, be more intentional, and show up consistently in the Explore Sanctuary community (and beyond). For this reason, we ask participants to commit to at least six of the seven gatherings.

Because this series will be rooted in nature, activities and invitations will be nature and sensory based. We’ll be journaling, meditating, creating, and playing. There will be moments of stillness, contemplation, play, conversation, and laughter.

This series is also for anyone wanting to build relationship with the land and the more-than-human world. Explore Sanctuary holds a belief that community doesn’t just exist between people — but expands beyond — with the understanding that everything is connected. To encourage relationship with the natural world, we’ll be meeting at different outdoor locations in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Part of the programming will include a brief history of the land and the Original Peoples that once dwelled in these spaces.

The Holistic Community experience was a lifesaver for me in a time that I really was yearning for friendship. It’s a perfect blend of connection, nature, self reflection, and lighthearted fun. I’m so thankful I got to be a part of Series 1. If you’re thinking of taking the leap, do it! You’ll walk away with new friends, a better understanding of yourself and a bunch of beautiful nature spots to revisit.

The Series Testimonials

This was such an amazing experience! Kate’s love of nature and holistic perspective was woven into every activity, discussion and invitation we explored. I felt a deep sense of community as we all connected and I learned so much from our wonderful group.

Kate truly created a community that was organic from the start. Although most of the group started out as strangers, we all took the chance at being vulnerable and I felt supported in a way that I’ve never felt support before. So many of my friends were intrigued about this group and its uniqueness. I left every meeting feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude and would do it all over again.
